If you are a long time resident of Gastonia, Belmont or Mount Holly, then you are sure to have years of memories of “Christmas Town USA”. If you are new to the area, you are in for a treat! Since, 1956 McAdenville, NC, has been filling the nights of December with wreaths, decorations, mistletoe, Christmas carols and, of course, lights to celebrate the Christmas season, and is now celebrating their 55th year of spreading Christmas cheer.
Last year there were more than 375 trees ranging in size from 6’ to 90’, each decorated with between 500 and 5000 red, white and green lights, with the exception of one that is decorated in red, white and blue, in honor of our soldiers. One tree in particular holds more than 10,000 white lights! Near the heart of things, on route through Christmas Town USA you will find a beautiful lake where you can see ‘Old Man Winter’ blowing visions of snow flakes into the 33 white-lit trees that lend their beautiful reflection to the water below. It has to be one of the most breathtaking spots in town.
Christmas Town USA, in McAdenville is convenient to residents of Charlotte, Belmont, Gastonia, Mount Holly, Mountain Island, and many other local cities; however visitors come from all of NC and neighboring states travel to see the display. You can park and stroll through town and pick up chocolate along the way, or you can drive through town and enjoy the sights. The lights are on Monday – Friday from 5:30 to 9:30 and Saturday and Sunday from 5:30 to 11:00 beginning December 1st and continue until the day after Christmas. Christmas Town USA is absolutely a must see this holiday season.
